Nice hotel with convenient location to subways. Had a great time. We would stay here again.

Funky vibe prioritized over basic comfort
The modern remodel, funky vibe and contemporary decor of The Box House Hotel made for an OK experience overall, but two basic aspects left me thinking this hotel prioritized looks over basic comfort. The mattress was far too soft (even for me as a side sleeper), and when the air-conditioning unit installed in the wall cycled on, it sounded like being at a car race track. The bathroom was great, and I appreciated its space and layout. But fundamentally, I need a good night's sleep, and the experience was lacking in that.

Excellent
Easy check in. Great help at the desk. Room was in excellent condition. Second time staying here. A small grocery store and several bars and restaurants nearby.

Dissapointing
This hotel was cute but I was disappointed with it. We booked a duplex room with a balcony. We booked the duplex because there were 4 of us and we wanted the second floor for a little bit of separation. At check in we were "upgraded" to a studio loft with a terrace. I said "we have 4 people, is that still going to be comfortable for us" and the woman assured me it would be. Since it was a studio style room the pull out couch and bed were feet from each other. So instead of having separation we all were uncomfortably close. The "upgrade" was the terrace part. Our original room had a small balcony and the new one had a big deck/terrace. It was 20 degrees outside. We didn't use it. It's not an upgrade if it's not functionally for the stay. So realistically I paid extra money for a room and ended up getting downgraded. Then, we found out the terrace door wouldn't even lock, and I asked to be moved and they instead sent someone to show us how to rig the door so it would lock. We shouldn't have had to worry about that... The beds were uncomfortable (hard as a rock) and there were stains on the pillow cases. The hotel itself isn't near a ton but it is close to the subway. The lobby and room decor were cute but otherwise it wasn't half way as good a stay as I expected.

Felt Welcomed in Brooklyn
First time in Brooklyn and the hotel staff was so helpful. Our room was more like a little apartment. Just the right amount of space for 2 team members and our gear. Plus the kitchen had everything we needed. Looks like we’ll be back in New York soon and I already know where we’ll be staying.
