Ground floor external door was broken would not lock and we had a real 2 hour battle to be moved to another one at midnight . It would have meant we could not leave it or sleep as it was open to anybody entering from the walk off the canal. They wanted to charge us £500 to move to another bigger appartment which they said was all that was available . Check in lady was excellent then It all went downhill. The guy who had to take us to the block, Arnold, knew the lock was broken when he left . It was left to the night guy who did his best against a resistant management who wanted us to pay the extra charge or be moved again the following day .The appartments are lovely but it’s not easy to navigate your way around and lots of people were having problems with their security passes . We ended up with a much bigger apartment than we needed due to the forced move but would have rather had the evening we lost on a short Capetown trip. It’s also not always easy to get hold of the 24 hour desk .
