Nice on entry and goes down hill after that…
Room was very tired. ‘Blackout’ curtains looked like tie dye met a moth when the sun came up. Bed was two single beds pushed together. Two beds became about 5cm apart down the middle! Mattress on my side had a coil poking right the way through !! Floor around the outside of the pool was slippy and filthy with mud and soil! The step into the pool somehow sliced the underneath of my toe!

A relaxing stay but disappointing food.
Stayed for two nights over bank holiday. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and quiet although a little tired in areas some areas. The room was lovely and spacious and beds were comfy. The pool area was nice with a reasonable number of beds. The changing rooms were clean although a number of lockers not working. We had two treatments which were lovely although one was a little on the side for what we had. Gym was quiet and had everything we needed- I enjoyed the use of peloton bike. Nice outside terrace overlooking the golf course. We would happily have extended our stay for a further night had the food have been better. The ‘tapas’ in the upstairs bar was a deep fried beige buffet and the patatas bravas was a plate of chips with sauce! The brasserie was also sadly underwhelming. Again, processed food . I had the gnocchi which was £17 for what appeared to be supermarket gnocchi in an uninspiring sauce with little presentation. Unfortunately, our room service cooked breakfast was also cold. A real shame as would go back if the food offering was better.

Dont have a shower - you will burn yourself
I have stayed at the Abbey for many years however it has continued to decline despite some investment. The shower in the room scalds you as you cant regulate the heat and this is an accident waiting to happen. The window in 212 wouldn't open and the TV was broken. The overall experience was horrendous.

Lovely overnight stay
Absolutely lovely stay at the Abbey Hotel. The hotel concierge were extremely helpful with every bit of information needed, gave us all of the information that was needed on arrival on where everything was and made sure we were comfortable to ring or ask if we needed anything more. A lovely young women (never caught her name but had a small nose piercing) at the concierge went and got towels for us without even telling us to get them at the spa where we were going anyway. She made it seem like nothing we would ask would ever be an issue. The room was a brilliant size(executive), although not as advertised it was still very nice and an amazing view of the golf course and surrounding fields. Looking forward to going again whenever we get the chance.
