Darwin City Edge Motel & Suites

Darwin City Edge offers a very reasonable rate but it's just a little too far for walking to and from the CBD in the tropical heat. The room I had was on the ground floor (if you have any sort of trouble with stairs then make sure you ask for a ground floor room, there are no lifts) and it was really dated but housekeeping were marvellous in keeping everything clean. There's aircon and a ceiling fan plus a small bar fridge. The bed was lumpy and sagged and definitely needs replacing. Good free WiFi access and the pool area is lovely. No room service. Reception is only open during the day but they have all the brochures you need to work out places to visit. Once you work out the local bus system (which is easy and free if you show your Seniors Card) there are stops a couple of blocks away that will take you to most of the attractions. The motel is in area that you would not necessarily like to be walking around at night. There's ample car spots in the grounds and in the street behind the motel.

The staff was great in working with us to get our stuff after hours when we returned from a trip to Kakadu National Park. It's a bit of a walk from the city center, but the room was pretty comfortable and the price was good.
