Sakura Hotel Hatagaya
Our stay was too short! If you’re looking for a home type vibe with the friendliest staff, this is place for you. It’s tucked away in Hatagaya, a more residential side of the city, so I was was nice and quiet. The station is located right on the corner from the hotel as well. Hoka from the Sakura hotel was very friendly, generous and suggested the best places to eat all over Tokyo. I’ll definitely be coming back! Thanks Hoka!!

Nice location and helpful staff
Hello. We spent most of our recent trip to Tokyo staying at Sakura Hotel Hatagaya. It's not the Ritz but it gets the job done. PROS: - Good location. Close to Shinjuku but far enough away that the neighborhood is reasonably quiet. - The staff speaks decent English. The accents can be a little strong sometimes, but all in all, my wife & I were able to communicate just fine. The staff was also able to make a couple of phone calls where Japanese was required. - Cleanliness is fine. The building's a bit drab but everything's clean. - For Muslims, there's a prayer room and halal food for sale. - The cafe lunch/dinner items were fine. - The cafe has a ¥1500 drink special that covers all your drinks over two hours. Very nice if you're on a budget. - WiFi was pretty fast, if a bit flaky at times. - They can hold luggage if needed. CONS: - The free breakfast really isn't breakfast. It's bread, soup, water, and some chocolate/peanut butter packs. You can pay for a few decent extras (rice, hash brown, eggs). Just don't expect heaping helpings. - The rooms, like many Japanese rooms, are a bit small. It's fine if you know what to expect. Still, be prepared. - The heat/AC is centrally controlled. You can set the temperature but they set whether it's heat or AC. Somehow, they set it to heat one day. We ran an errand and came back to a virtual sauna that afternoon! (Thankfully, it was corrected quickly. This probably had to do with some AC cleaning they were doing.)
