6/10 Good

Amazing suite, sub-par service
This is a review written with mixed emotions. My partner and I were so excited to be staying at Peppers in their King Billy Suite (the top tier accomodation). When we arrived in the afternoon, our welcome reception was slow, uninformative and lack lustre and requests we made of the reception staff (the males) appeared to be a chore for them. Later that evening we dined at the Highlander restaurant (their self proclaimed ‘fine dining’ option) and again the service was slow. One of our dishes never arrived and overall the menu was overpriced for what was on offer. You may wish to instead try eating at the tavern, although they were super busy and our dinner the next evening took 45 mins to prepare. Breakfast at Highlander was a buffet which was pleasant although our coffee order never arrived on our second morning. On the positive side, the suite itself was exceptional. Incredibly well presented, comfortable and spacious and we loved the outdoor hot tub. The house keeper Cherylynne was lovely and very accomodating. Upon checkout, we raised our concerns with the woman working at reception and she was incredibly apologetic and offered her assistance. The surrounds and walks are beautiful just make sure that you organise payment for entry into the national park. This can be done at Peppers reception, however the man that checked us in put the wrong dates on our passes. Overall an amazing suite with sub-par service.

Straight out of a story book
Simply idyllic. The hotel and surrounds are something out of a fairy tail and almost feels as though it’s a land forgotten. The only downside is it left me wanting… wanting more. Definitely earned a return visit.

4/10 Fair

Surprised we didn’t have to wash the dishes
Overall the lodge was nice and conveniently located. However the service was extremely disappointing. There was no daily housekeeping, the tavern was closed the majority of my stay, the restaurant was booked out and there was no coffee available for breakfast except a large tin of instant Nescafé. While the tavern was closed the lodge did offer a simplified menu, however after waiting on the phone for 30mins with no answer we had to walk down to reception to place our order and then walk back to our room to wait for it to be delivered. The cause of the issues were “staff shortages”. This should not be the responsibility of the guests to make up for the shortfall. I was surprised we didn’t have to take turns washing the dishes. There was no offer of money back, discount, or any offer by way of apology. Why are you still charging full price when the basics are not being provided. I did provide feedback upon check out however I am still waiting to hear back from them
