8/10 Very good

Beautiful hotel in a great location. The staff was lovely, very helpful. Breakfast was above average. Rooms were nicely appointed. Wi-Fi was ok which is above average for most Italian hotels.
Cons- Air-conditioning is non existent. They advertise AC but it’s mediocre at best. No matter how you change the thermostat is bad. And we were in Rome in August with 95-98 degree temps. To be fair, at the other 4 hotels we stayed in during this trip, London, Paris, Rome, Florence and Porto San Giorgio, none had adequate air conditioning.
The other major con is the key system. Our first room had a key card, one one which you return to the desk if you go out. You also need to put in into a slot in the wall to power the lights. But there’s only one card. If I go out at night and leave my son in the room I have to either leave him in the dark or bang on the door and wake him to enter. Plus unless they are re-programming the card every visit, it can be duplicated fairly easily, I could have duplicated the card on my first visit and on my second visit….
The second room we stayed in had a physical key. So no problems with the power but incredibly easy to duplicate. To me these are major security threats.
To the hotel, if you could have rooms with better AC travelers, American travelers would happily pay an increased price. 5, 10, 20 euros a night. Call it the Arctic or the igloo room and charge more. There are 2 things American want lots of good AC and good Wi-Fi
