This is a long review but please read! I wanted to ensure that I submitted this review as I am seeing highly suspect activities on Expedia and feel that Expedia should have a degree of liability to this issue as it is the website that allows vendors to sale their products to the general public. I stayed at The Fives in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. The Fives is a nice hotel. It is not average and it is not five star…The property is well taken care of, the wait and housekeeping staff are excellent. The amenities are average; pool, restaurants, spa, and lounge areas. They have no business center… Now readers, I caution you!!! I purchased this resort through Expedia. There was no disclaimer that this property was a timeshare. Correction: “membership.” About three days before my trip, I was contacted by a Fabiola Flores from Epic Center, a travel agency. She informed me that I was required to attend a 90- minute presentation. I immediately knew that this was a sales event. I told her that I was not interested in buying a timeshare or “membership.” She stated that the presentation was mandatory. At this point, I was in no position to cancel my stay as the 24-hour cancellation program that Expedia offers had expired weeks before. This was not indicated on Expedia’s website-at all! I was in a predicament as I detest timeshare sales behavior. Little did I know how aggressive sales tactics have become. Buyer beware, these people are relentless, pushy, and lack professionalism.

Unsere Wahl fiel auf dieses Hotel, weil es direkt am Meer liegt und dennoch direkt zu einem Ort gehört: Die Lage am Ortsrand macht es möglich, das Zentrum von Puerto Morelos zu Fuss in knapp 15 Minuten zu erreichen (auch gibt es regelmässige Colectivos oder Taxis). Das Zimmer war gross und komfortabel, und die Aussicht war trotz fehlender Meersicht ansprechend. Wir haben für unseren Aufenthalt einen guten Preis bezahlt, und insofern waren wir mit dem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis absolut zufrieden. Dieses würde für mich jedoch nicht stimmen, wenn ich den vom Hotel publizierten Preis bezahlt hätte. Da würde ich z.B. mehr Umschwung und mehr allgemein verfügbaren Raum im und rund ums Hotel erwarten. Auch den Lärm durch das morgens und abends wiederkehrende Rücken von Mobiliar auf der Dachterrasse (2 Stockwerke über unserem Zimmer) fände ich weniger akzeptabel. Und auch wenn das Hotel nicht für das Benehmen der Gäste verantwortlich gemacht werden kann, so fände ich es angezeigt, dass das Personal Gästen untersagt, Füsse in der Hotelhalle auf den Tisch zu legen. Generell ist die Preisgestaltung nicht so transparent und mitunter absurd - zumindest für Gäste, die nicht 'all inclusive' gebucht haben: Unklar z.B., ob bzw. welche Preise für Liegen oder 'Körbe' am Strand erhoben werden. So hätten wir an einem Tag für eine Art Liegekorb 150 USD (!) pro Tag bezahlen müssen - am Vortag wurde nichts verlangt.
