The property itself is beautiful, a well-designed renovation of a historic building. Lots of charm. The bed was very comfortable - mattress and pillows were great. Our bathroom floor was very dirty upon arrival and obviously had not been cleaned, despite having fresh towels. The floor had a significant amount of sand on it, and a quick wipe with a paper towel made it clear that the floor was very dirty. Being in a neighborhood like the Marigny/Frenchmen, where the streets and sidewalks are extremely dirty - you want to know that the floors of your room have been cleaned properly. This was not the case and naturally made us concerned that the rest of the room had also not been cleaned properly.
Front desk staff varied from neutral to completely unhelpful. Of the four separate front desk people we interacted with, only one was informed or even interested in helping to answer questions. The retail items available for purchase in the lobby are great, but the staff knew little to nothing about the items, their pricing, or how to find them if we actually wanted to make a purchase.
The pool area is very nice, just like the pictures. Free coffee in the lobby in the morning was a nice little surprise. The location is great (if you're not familiar with it - bring earplugs!) and very walkable.
Overall, this is a very cute property with a lot of potential, and the price was right for our last minute stay. A refocusing on cleanliness and customer service would go a long way.
