About Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel

Luxury Providence city-center hotel with restaurant

Steps from the capitol

In a restored, historic 1920s building, The Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel is across the street from Rhode Island State House. You’re next to Veterans Memorial Auditorium, and the acclaimed WaterFire sculpture at Waterplace Park is an 8-minute walk.

Shopping and the arts

You’re a 2-minute walk from Providence Place Mall and its array of casual shops and high-end stores like Swarovski and Tiffany & Co. If you feel like some culture, you can drive 5 minutes and catch a musical or theatrical event at the Providence Performing Arts Center.

Casual in-house dining

Casual New American cuisine, craft cocktails, and hearty breakfasts are served up at Public Kitchen & Bar, the hotel’s flagship restaurant. The elegant lobby is a cool place to use the free public WiFi, and the fitness center will help you stick to your workout regime.

Art Deco guestrooms

Deep reds, dark woods, and black furniture bring the hotel’s refined Art Deco vibe to each of its 264 guestrooms. Amenities such as WiFi, cable TV, and a mini-fridge help you enjoy your surroundings, while marble bathrooms add a touch of luxury. The non-suite guestrooms, public spaces, and lobby were recently renovated in December 2015.

Nice Thanksgiving getaway

Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel
Our room was magnificent--large, high ceilings, great view of the RI Statehouse through the large window. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud; the room was very quiet. The bathroom was large and thoughtfully-lighted. Hotel personnel were uniformly helpful and courteous. Maid service was fine, when it came, though timing was a problem as the maid didn't understand English. Though only a couple of blocks from downtown, the hotel seems a bit isolated, perhaps in part because it's on a hill.

The hotel is great! I'm a regular client. Some of your staff are great: The front desk and housekeeping. Some really need additional customer service training. The wait staff in the restaurant especially need help. I won't eat there again. There is a gang mentality that is off-putting... As a single woman I felt neglected, as if I was less important than other guests. While I enjoyed some room service, I will go out to eat more in the future. As you know, Providence has great restaurants, so I would advise you to take this seriously or you will likely loose more customers. The valet service is very sketchy - and not very professional. Chatty, not as responsive as needed. They definitely need additional customer service training.
