Traditional Sihe Style in Beijing :)
We stayed 7 nights in a standard room. We definitely like the Sihe and Chinese style of the hotel. The room was not too big, just enough for two people. All the furnitures were in Chinese style. The washroom wass better than I expected. It's clean and newly renovated. The bed was huge and comfy. The housekeeper helped us to tidy up the room almost everyday. However, the hotel was under renovation during our stay, so it was a bit noisy outside. Just a 10-minute walk, there are two metro stations. It easy to find local restaurants, supermarkets, cage and shops on the main street. The breakfast place was too cold and they didn't put on the heating and the choice of breakfast was limited, only congee, toast, coffee and tea. Overall, we were happy for our stay.

I stayed at this lovely courtyard hotel during my recent Beijing visit. This hotel was the former home of the famed Beijing Opera Singer, Mei Lan Fan. The building is 400-years old and its architecture reflects that period. It is a charming place where you could imagine how the Mandarins lived back then. The hotel is located in a Hutong (alley), and can be difficult to locate if Beijing is new to you. It is located south of Dongsi subway station (Beijing Subway). You need to walk along Dongsi South St. after exiting the subway station. The Hutong is the 4th alley intersecting Dongsi South St. from Dongsi subway station. Turn left into that 4th alley (Deng Cao Hutong), and walk about 150m. There are 2 large red lanterns hanging above the hotel front entrance. The neighborhood is quaint, and quiet by 9 p,m, The housekeeping is excellent. This service is provided daily (no need to display "housekeeping needed" sign). My room has a relatively large bathroom which was nice. Laundry turnaround time is excellent. Many thanks to Zheng Li Hong who handled my laundry. The breakfast buffet is adquate. I enjoyed their pot-stickers and bean-paste buns. Freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee were available. Contrary to other reviews, I find it was easy to communicate in English with the front desk staff. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I do recommend it to adventurous travelers who prefer a unique cultural and historical experience.

The hotel is in a very convenient location to walk for shopping, the food night market, upper end mall stores and subway. The walking distance to the forbidden palace and other attractions was less the a 2 mile walk. The included breakfast was good everyday and we met people from many countries who were interesting and had travel experiences to share. The walk down the DengCao Hutong was safe and easy.

Very good
The hotel is clean and staff understand English. What makes it nice is the structure itself, in a traditional house. It is 5 min walking from the metro station, in a not-so-touristic neighborhood.

central authentic hutong hotel
It is in authentic hutong hotel in a DengCao hutong. Central location, 12 min walking to Metro, two metrostops from Tiananmen. Nice tiny hutong alleys withing the hotel The was staff was friendly. Good chinese breakfast. Complicated wifi access. Room was small but clean, thoug with spots of fallen plaster. Its good economical hutong hotel in a central Beijing hutong. So you have to the and do not mind mutually looking into windows of your neighbors, almost impossible to get there by car but, enjoy the calmness and social contact.

Beautiful Courtyard Hotel in Beijing Dongcheng
My stay at the Beijing Sihe Courtyard Hotel has been a pleasant experience. Firstly, the hotel location is quite handy tucked away in a quiet alleyway only minutes walking distance from the nearest subway station but feels like a world away from the noisy crowded busy main streets. Secondly, I got a free upgrade to the very well appointed and elegant VIP guestroom. Thirdly, the hotel staff were very courteous and helpful in providing useful directions around the city. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience staying in a hutong courtyard hotel instead of the standard chain hotel you can find in any other cities.

Disappointing and scary arrival after dark
We arrived late at night by train. DIDi travel app has no registration for address. It was difficult to find a cab willing to take us there. The entry way is in a dark tiny alley with no lights and no hotel name on building. Hotel staff was surly and immediately dussapeared after check in. Beds were hard and uncomfortable, decor was lovely. Breakfast was good. Booked online, but feel as if the listing did not match my search filters. Hotel was more expensive than a chain hotel with none of the amenities

Good
I was there for 8 nights and I had to stay in 3 different rooms. And not all of them were as big as the price I paid for. I paid my room (or I should say roomS) in advance to expedia, so once I got there I was trapped. Expedia should not allow this, especially for long-time loyal customers.

Very good
The hotel is nice and very clean. While the building and the furniture is quite traditional, the bathrooms have been recently updated with tiles and nice toilet and sink. Felt very clean! The staff is friendly, and the breakfast buffet has several options for both Chinese and Western breakfast. The only small issue for me was that the room was very small. The bed (large!) is along the wall on one side, and there is very little space between it and the desk on the other side. There's little room to put bags for two travelers.
