We live roughly 4 hours from the city so decided we would book a night away. Check in was easy enough, we got to the room to find we had barely any space to move and there was a cockroach crawling around! Supposedly sound proof rooms were anything but. My husband went down stairs to get some fresh air in the middle of the night, the only person at reception (didn't give his name conveniently) told him he couldn't be downstairs without any shoes on, so he went back upstairs to put some on. When my husband went back downstairs the man continued to be rude and belittle my husband, asking what room he was from, telling him he would get him kicked out, to the point we felt we had no choice but to leave at 2am which also meant we had to wake up our 5 year old daughter and make the 4 hour drive home in the middle of the night! This has turned us off the Ibis chain completely and we won't be returning here or to any of their other hotels.

Avoid all Accor properties if this is one

I am a regular hotel guest due to the nature of my work, I stayed in hotels over 200 nights last year. My check in experience was unique - I was stuck waiting for 4 hours. 1:00AM - 5:00AM, I was told about 5 times by the manager I had a bad attitude because I suggested he give me a room and fix his internal computer problems without my presence. I had a pre-paid booking. The manager was the sort of man who cut his own hair; it was striking. What occurred the next night was even worse, as I was about to go to an important work-related appointment, I was again held in reception for 3 hours, by a little man who in that 3 hours was unable to articulate what he wanted from me. I missed my appointment. I never leave bad reviews. I need you to pause for a second and consider that my experience over those two days, to trigger this review, is so remarkable that I thought at one point I was on a hidden camera prank show. I have stayed regularly with the Accor branded Ibis properties in Sydney, although not frequently at this property. They are usually professionally staffed by competent, friendly people who understand that the difference between great service and what I experienced here is simply empathy, somethings gone wrong, but I'm not part of the long hard attempt to fix it, I'm the guest. Upon, being allowed to enter a room, the state of the room was disgusting, I found hair in the bed, dried blood on a facecloth, and toenail clippings on the carpet.

    Great stay

The stay was pleasant. There were many eateries around 24/7 if you do get hungry. The hotel is also convenient to the train stations as it is located in the city centre. The only two downsides of the hotel for the price you will be paying are that it has no real view except the view of CBD buildings and no swimming pool.

In the CBD. Good security. Perfect if you need a night or two in the city. Lots of restaurants nearby. Close to train station.

As I have said on two previous occasions, we had to cancel our trip. I contacted the Ibis and was graciously offered the two rooms at some time in the future before Dec.2021. It is possible that we will do this trip next year and with Wotif's help we will use the accommodation then.

Reasonably central, clean and well presented room. The downside is that there is no kitchenette and I needed reception staff to manually change the air con from cooling to heating. I’d stay here again.
