Great setting in a wooded area with many amenities located within walking distance. The Lodge building is an older structure that could use upgrades for sound insulation between rooms. First

This place was amazing. We only stayed one night passing through, but wish we had stayed a whole week. Beautiful scenery, lots of activities available, animals, and fire flies. We are definitely planning to return.

This property is near Hendersonville even though it comes up in the search for Asheville, it’s about 20 minutes outside the area. The resort really stands on its own and is quaint and cute. Staff is outstanding and the on site restaurant is 3 stars. Great location if you want to be out of the thick of things.

Great property, Dated rooms.
The resort grounds are very nice for relaxing. Staff was responsive and attentive to detail especially the restaurant staff. Rooms at the lodge are a bit dated but over all nice.

Decent place, but dated.
The groundsman was very nice. The others were polite, but certainly not outgoing. The gentlemen who checked me in was not particularly forthcoming with information. The actual grounds were very nice. I stayed in a cottage and it was quite dated and dark. The cottage itself had two rental units in it. I could hear everything in the next unit. I found the food at breakfast to be very good.

We had an interesting experience at Highland Lake Inn & Resort. To start with, we were out of town at an event the evening of check-in and we tried to call a little after 5 to double check when we had to be there for check-in. We received no response back from our voicemail and just went with what Expedia had listed (11pm). We arrived to the office at about 10:40pm to find the office closed. We rang the phone provided and explained we were there to check-in. The two maintenance gentleman that showed up to assist us were awesome! They made us uneasy because they said they didn't have any more check-ins. We showed them our Expedia itinerary and they took down all of our information. They got us our keys and all the needed information and even showed us how to get to the house we were staying at and showed us to our room. The room itself was nice and spacious. We got one of the suites so we could test out the jacuzzi. We definitely enjoyed the jacuzzi. A few annoyances included the fact that the standard internet did not work. I could not even load my gmail without the window crashing. For what we paid for this room, I would expect the regular internet to work. They had an upgraded internet option for an additional $3.95, but we avoided using that because it was extremely late and, again paying over $240 for a room, I would expect the standard internet to be sufficient! The fireplace in our suite also did not work. They had a pretty great spread for breakfast!
