Disappointing stay with lots of additional costs!!

Firstly, we had to PAY for parking despite having a large carpark! Yes seriously!! We then also had to pay for using the pool. Neither of these costs were mentioned when booking. There was no tea or coffee in the room. There were stains on the carpet. Heating wasn't working and the room was cold. This was solved by being provided with a portable heater which wasn't ideal in a large room. The bathroom floor tiles were dirty and cracked and there was hair in the corners of the bathroom. We had booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package but the dinner was provided as an £18 allowance which did not allow us to have choice from the menu without also being charged more. The entire stay felt like a money grab. The only redeeming feature was that the staff were pleasant and friendly and tried to help but clearly had little authority when it came to additional costs. The overall impression was that the room hadn't been used for sometime and no-one had bothered checking it before we checked in.

    Do not stay

Terrible. More of a hostel than a hotel and pay for parking even though on in private land. Waited 15mins to check in as no staff about. It’s also now a rehoming venue rather than a hotel which is fine but please advertise as so. Do not stay

    Awful place that's getting worse

Very dirty with a very hideaway staff that assumed really put out by me asking for restocks on the cereal, bread and most of the cooked items at breakfast. They told me that always run out at this time...it was 7.45am!!! They tried to charge me £10 fur the breakfast which I quickly got refunded. Bathroom was disgusting with pubic hairs from previous occupant.

    Good value overall

Overall we had a nice and comfortable stay, the staff were very helpful and friendly, I think it was a good value for money as the rooms were a good size. We found a massive bra underneath the bed and now my son is traumatised. We did find mold above the shower curtain in both rooms and it was quite bad, and generally the bathrooms need up grading.

    Not for me again

This place has gone downhill. last Stayed before Covid . Security is required which gives you an idea who is staying there . Afghan refugees milling around causing chaos in breakfast area. Rooms tired and smelly unclean bathroom . Flush did not work disgusting . Fiasco at breakfast . Buy a voucher malarkey . Never had that before and I stay in many hotels for my work . Food wasn’t even worth the hassle . Acting managers not even aware what’s going on in my opinion . Using the gym / spa is not included as was not explained to me as the breakfast system . Went back and forth , in the end didn’t bother using . Empty gym not surprised .

    Makes Fawlty Towers look good.

Unadvertised charges for parking, wifi and the gym/sauna etc. If you want these 3 adding to your room allow £21.00 I was given a room already occupied, half naked person not happy at all. Remote controls disgusting, must be why they are in a bag. Electric cable to bedside lamp was arkung because the wire was bare. No brewing facilities in your room you have to collect paper cup etc from reception ( this is after the covid lock down). I do on average a hotel a week sometimes 2 and have done for 20 years. When this was the hilton it was a decent hotel now it make fawlty towers look 5 stars. Do yourself a favour book somewhere else or sleep in your car......

It’s a bit disappointing not to have free internet when staying away with work. Then the £7 you pay only works for one divice

    Very average

The stay was ok however everything seemed to be an optional extra at cost such as use of the gym, car park, internet access. This started to ramp up the price which should have been mentioned at time of booking. For that cost I would have gone elsewhere.
