Very nice stay. Room was clean and private jacuzzi was very nice. Pool and thermal pool areas were clean and well cared for. Restaurant was also clean with a good menu (try the ceviche) staff was friendly and eager to be helpful. Breakfast buffet had decent selection. The only drawback was only one TV channel in English (yes, I know it’s Costa Rica where Spanish is the primary language). When we were in the room for the evening it would have been nice to have one or two additional channels, aside from the news.

The volcano lodge was very nice, if a bit campy. Had a cheesey feel that was also kind of fun. The service was consistently excellent and breakfast was fantastic. The hot springs were nice, as was the pool. The room was very basic and neighbors were a bit loud one night. There was a heavy security presence- guys pacing the perimeter the whole time. Seemed strange but helped us feel safe. One night security called us to tell us we had left our car window open- we were grateful they noticed and let us know! This might have been a pandemic thing but most of the other guests were Costa Rican which was a nice experience.

The landscaping on the grounds were beautiful, like the Garden of Eden.

We booked a room with a king size bed but when we checked in just a couple hours after booking, they said they had no kings available. The food atthe breakfast wa horible. The pancakes were like hockey pucks and the potatoes were like soup. The eggs had obviously sat in the warmer for hours. It is included with the room or its $10 if you go before check in...its not worth it. The rooms were clean but over priced. Compared to the room we had in La Fortuna the night before. Casa del Rio.

Beautiful views of the Volcano from the restaurant and thermal springs. Food, is surprisingly great - with wonderful presentation. Room with private hot spring in the back was amazing! Rooms are a little outdated, that would be my only negative comment. Service and attention was exceptional - super friendly staff.

The views, pool and thermal area were excellent and I already miss it. The property is well maintained and pictures in travel sights don’t due it justice. Ideally located to town and key parks. Highly recommend. Only negative but not a big deal is that the furniture in the rooms can be updated. I truly have a difficult time relaxing and want to be in the go but the allure of the volcano, thermals and a good happy hour definitely made me relax.

This was our second time staying at Volcano Lodge and it was as great as we remembered. There is constant maintenance happening, whether it is scrubbing the pools or caring for the amazing landscaping. We have stayed in another hotel in La Fortuna once that was run down and not as friendly of staff for the same price.

This was our second time at Volcano Lodge Hotel and Thermal Experience and it won't be the last time! We are two couples that do an annual friends' trip together, often to Costa Rica as it is our favorite destination/]. We LOVE the service here, the friendliness of the staff, the hot springs are amazing, and we enjoyed playing pool in the lobby each evening. The hotel grounds are a highlight with so much flora and fauna to enjoy. We stayed in a superior thermal room. While we enjoyed the public thermal areas each evening during happy hour, we loved waking up each morning super early and having coffee in our own private dipping thermal pool just outside off the back patio of our room. Breakfast each morning was basic but hearty and allowed us to start our day without having to spend extra money or leave. We have stayed at other locations in the Arenal/La Fortuna area, but we will always come back to this one. It's now like a home away from home!
