There are 10-acres of stunning Scottish countryside surrounding the cottages for guests and their pets to enjoy real relaxation and freedom to roam, as well as private seating areas with barbeques, for each cottage. Super dog friendly, there is an outside hosepipe, doggy welcome pack plus a new totally secure paddock where your dog can roam freely, free to use but bookable with the owners to ensure peace of mind.
There’s a well-equipped kitchen/dining area, ideal for self-catering for a family which is open-plan to the welcoming living room which has a cosy wood-burning stove and patio doors leading out onto the sheltered seating area overlooking a babbling burn and the hills beyond. The modern shower room is on the ground floor, and stairs lead up to two delightful spacious double bedrooms. Both enjoy views over the hills, where you may be lucky enough to see deer as you open the curtains of a morning! Thoughtfully renovated, decorated in a blend of traditional with a touch of contemporary, it’s a comfortable cottage ideal for couples or a small family.
Killean Farm was built in the 17th century and has served as a farmhouse and family home for many years. The cottages were converted from the original farm buildings and are set in a square around a courtyard. Despite its rural location, there’s a café and bar within 1½ miles or a 30 minute walk from the cottage and it’s just five minutes’ drive into the heart of Inveraray, home to Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. Inveraray has a host of local amenities and attractions with traditional welcoming pubs, quaint cafes, independent stores, supermarket and a golf course. Travelling south along the coast of Loch Fyne is the small friendly highland village of Furnace, eight miles away with a village hall, convenience store and post office. The small county town of Lochgilphead, 20 miles from Killean, has an interesting array of shops, cafes, bars and a leisure centre with swimming pool. On the way, you’ll pass the Museum of Highland Village Life at Auchindrain, the National Trust Gardens at Crarae, and with a themed activity and adventure centre nearby, there’s always plenty to see and do.
This part of Argyll has miles of unspoilt countryside with fantastic mountain, woodland and coastal walks to enjoy and abundant wildife. Nature lovers will be spoilt for choice with many local Nature and Forestry reserves offering walking and cycling routes. A 40-minute drive to Oban, the Gateway to the Isles, gives you access supermarkets, ferry terminal, shops, cafes, restaurants, a cinema, leisure centre and whisky distillery. On the way to Oban, there are a many beautiful attractions to visit including Kilchurn Castle, St Conan’s Kirk and Cruachan Visitor Centre, and Loch Awe, Scotland’s longest fresh-water loch. For day trips, you are conveniently situated for ferries to Arran, Bute, Islay and Gigha, and to Campbeltown, Kilmartin, Glencoe and Loch Lomond. Beach 1 mile.
