Comfortable stay
Great location, away from the craziness near Mallory Square but close enough to walk there. Excellent restaurants nearby. Smallish pool, but lots of room to lounge around it. The basic room is just that -- small and basic. Strong wifi signal but no desk/chair in room to set up a laptop. Good coffee at breakfast with local baked goods. Don't pay for the local tourist train/bus (unless you want an audio tour of Key West) -- free city bus goes right by the hotel and loops the island.

Misleading rating and reviews.
Let me start off by saying the front desk receptionist for the hotel was an amazing person! she is so sweet, so helpful, so nice...unfortunately I don't remember her name. Also unfortunate that the actual room and hotel itself weren't all that great. When I first enter the room it was very tiny barely any space to move, there was also a strange smell to the room. The pool was pretty small and breakfast wasn't all that great, also no microwave anywhere to be found I had to ask the cook in the bar to heat up my food. By the second day of staying there, bugs started to show up...ants, spiders, moths. I was gonna take a picture of it to show it on here but I didn't wanna make a big deal of it at first. The bedsheets were pretty gross as well. Honestly the only reason I booked this hotel was because of the ratings and reviews that it has...I thought because of that it was a great deal I found but the hotel overall was "ok". I stayed in a hotel near the same area that was a 2.5-star hotel last year that was much better, this hotel is considered a 3.5-star hotel. But again the receptionist was great, the only reason I would go back.

This was the 5th time staying at the Lighthouse court hotel and will be my last. I’ve never had a problem here before except for parking, but this time was bad enough that I will not return. We got there around 12 in the afternoon and understandable enough our room was not ready, so we dropped our bags and Laura checked us in and told us that it will be no later than 3:00 that our room would be ready and that she would give us a call if it would be earlier. So across the island we went to meet up with friends. It got to be around 3:30 close to 4, and we decided to head back across the island and get our room. On returning, Laura told us that our room was not ready and that she couldn’t tell us when it was going to be ready, in a very rude way. She said there was one room that she could give us that the hotel was restoring and showed it to us. I said I’ll take it if they cut the price, she said she was not going to do that and I asked for a manager, she would not give me any information to contact a manager at all. On time restraint of showing up at dinner at 5 with friends I took the room. The next day, our room didn’t get cleaned. I had to go back to Laura and ask if they would please clean the room. In her very rude tone again, she said the cleaning staff had already gone home but she will have someone make our bed for us. I asked if they could please leave some towels... the bed was made, no towels... we made the best of the weekend, but LAURA, change your attitude

Good 6,0
Comfy bed, good closet space..but place needs reno
Good:across from Hemingway house, one block from Duval, staff very sweet and welcoming, accommodating, comfortable bed, excellent closet space. Not Good: outdated barely working window units that are in an obscure place that doesn't cool the entire room (staff offered to move us but not the same size room. We looked at other rooms: a few window units were on the side of the bed, but the rooms are closet type) We read reviews that said needs TLC...well peeling paint and wood rot everywhere. Our room had a small area in the entrance with peeled split upholstery (as did the headboard) We wouldn't dare sit on that. The bathroom was a problem as there was a HORRIBLE smell (again the property did offer to move. We had to consider another hotel at this point but opted to keep bathroom door closed, buy air fresheners and cover the shower drain with towels. But no ac in the bathroom so the heat made the smell worse. The bathroom shower bottom corners were nasty; not sparkling clean and badly mildewed. Unsure if all the rooms were like ours but wanted to share our experience for 4 days.
