The man checking us in was very unwelcoming. It seemed a bother for him to do his job much less be helpful. The lady checking us out was more concerned with sitting on the couch and again it was an imposition to perform her job. The staff wasn’t concerned about coffee or breakfast in the morning. I discovered this when pouring days old coffee at 7:30 am on Monday. Again absolutely no concern about doing their job. It would benefit Hu hotel to “secret shop” their front desk staff. I witnessed the lack of concern extended to other disappointed guest during the stay. The facility is nice and could be an excellent hotel but for the staff. Everyone has a bad day occasionally but the attitude unfortunately permeated the staff. The man cleaning the floors was very helpful and friendly. He was kind enough to ask the front desk staff to get off the couch and assist the guests. We appreciate his kindness.

Great hotel and a good value. Pastries and coffee in the morning, not a full breakfast. Walking distance to Beale St. and a short drive to everything else you could want to do.

Bad hotel
The hotel for the price wasn't worth it, no microwave and we called for tissue for the bathroom, we had to go get it from the front desk ourselves. We had to ask for clean towels daily, the cable disnt work properly

Check the surrounding areas
As a historic hotel with the price paid. I expected alot more. The hotel rooms looked nice but not comfortable. The view from 15th floor was not good, the air vents were dusty and carpet stained. Walking around outside was sketcky as it seemed homeless people were staggering through streets. If i find myself in memphis again, i would not choose this hotel again.

Easy to have gotten 5 stars
I’d give it 5 stars except for 2 things. 1. Hotel was stingy about shampoo and soap. Getting extra was kind of a hassle, for us and the staff. 2. Hallway carpets could use a shampoo. Staff was friendly and cheerful.
