    From the moment we arrived on the property, every staff there was very friendly and professional. The room is clean & the overall property is clean. The food is tasty but there are not many variety to choose from. I was not given information about a la carte restaurant, therefore, our only options are buffet for breakfast, lunch & dinner. The drinks are good and the server & bartenders are knowledgeable about what to serve.

    The resort was just reopening after a 10 month closing due to COVID. We arrived day 4. There were some kinks but the staff worked hard to fix any problems. Food was amazing. Specialty restaurants were not fully functional yet but the buffet didn’t disappoint. They also did a great job of keeping us ‘safe’ (COVID related).

    The hotel staff and the beach were fantastic. I thought the food was pretty good. But, the front desk staff was not very helpful. Our first room was near the night time entertainment area and it was so loud we could not sleep at all. It sounded like a concert in our room. We also had hardly any water pressure and a refrigerator that did not work. The front desk said they could not move us until the next day. Our new room air conditioning went out and we notified the front desk and they did not fix it so we had no air conditioning for 3 days until we left the hotel. Also we had to extend our stay 1 day due to a flight change. The front desk staff told us to do it online through Barcelo, their hotel group so we did. So on the last night we were sleeping and at 1:30 in the morning there was knocking at what seemed to be our door and than someone entered our room in the middle of the night. It was the front desk staff. They leave and the knocking continues so I open the door and they proceed to tell me I need to get dressed and come to the front desk to confirm my credit card for the additional night. They could have called, but none of the phones worked in the hotel and why could they not let us know earlier in the stay. I was furious! Here we are trying to sleep in our hot room with no air conditioning so we can get up early for our flight and someone barges into our room with no announcement. Unacceptable, this has never happened to me before, I would not recommend.

    Allegro Playacar is set up like a village of low rise thatched roofed two floor units. Our upper suite was updated and clean and the bed and linens were very comfortable. Each suite has a nice sized balcony/porch and we were able to see a bit of the ocean. The walkability is very good and they provide barrier free access on the grounds. The surroundings are very picturesque. We were impressed that they had special wheelchairs for beach access. And we saw those chairs being put to good use. The beach is lovely and goes on forever and there are different water sports offered. We are shade lovers, and although there are palm trees that provide some shade on the beach, we would have liked to have more sun shelter options. The two very lovely pools had canvas, lattice shelters, however, they did not block all of the sun. We would have preferred that the canvas pieces were closer together to provide complete shade. The staff were very efficient and they provided beach and pool activities. The evening entertainment was good. There was a good variety of food as well as whatever drinks you preferred. There were drinking water dispensers as well. We had one issue with a clogged toilet and it was fixed in no time! Check in was efficient and we were welcomed and given a tour by Israel who made us feel right at home. We are looking at returning next year for a longer stay instead of renting an Airbnb in Cancun. Cheers!

    This was my 2nd time staying at Allegro. Love this place! Staff is great, rooms updated and clean, food was good and entertainment offered if you are looking for some. They don’t serve alcohol til noon, so stock up night before. Ha. Cant wait to go back! I heart Alegro!

    Beach area was beautiful. Horrible guest services. Upon arrival we found the room we had did not have air conditioning. We had to ask 4 times over 2 days before we got an answer. They made us change rooms. The guy they sent to help us move rooms was 2 hours late and he was rude when he saw our luggage and made a fuss because he had to go back to get a luggage carrier. When they move us into the new room, it was in the back of the resort in a room that the lights did not work, the drain in the shower backed up every time we took a shower, the phone didn’t work and the TV did not work. We asked multiple times for assistance and were told that they would be sending some one to our room. No one ever showed up. We finally just gave up asking. We paid extra for a week of internet use and then had to pay for an entire week when we only needed 3 days. Internet should not cost $90 for a 10 day stay!!! We were not timeshare clients and were were treated like 2nd class. If the resort is going to cater to only timeshare holders, they should not allow other guests.

    The best thing about this resort, is the friendliness of the staff,especially the restaurant servers. Miguel, Humburto,Alec,Richardo and Sarai, you all went above and beyond for us during our 2 week stay. The food is excellent. The beach is beautiful . Lots of loungers so never had to worry about getting down to the beach early to make sure we got chairs. The only downfall is the air works but never really got the room took 3 days to get it down to 21C. We cant wait to fo back!
