No complaints the experience was all good..

Disappointed for a Marriott
There were not enough staff at front desk. Always a long wait and staff was helping guests with sight seeing questions while line grew. They are changing key system and it was a mess. They didn’t properly program my elevator key to also access the executive lounge and then my room key stopped working. Had to go back to front desk (and wait in line while the one or two staff helped guests plan sight seeing tours) to fix keys. Very unorganized front desk. This used to be my go to hotel and was always superior but service has deteriorated significantly.

I Won't come back .
The hotel is very old and needs to be refurbished .Rooms smells bad because of old carpets and curtains. Breakfast is very basic . Well below the average for the price you pay .

Avoid this hotel if possible.
Hotel staff were very disorganized and received some of the worst customer service here I have received at any hotel due to that, I actually had a staff member knocking on my door at 7am to deliver a remote to me when I had requested no such thing - on a day I was looking to sleep in.

Very small rooms. Can get better hotels with a great view in the same area for the same cost. I liked Marco's service! Cheers to the guy

Classic hotel at a prime spot in Copacabana
A hotel with classic decor that is well maintained. Offers excellent service. Friendly and helpful staff. Room is of decent size. Offers all amenities: WiFi (paid or free depends on package and membership program), iron and board, bathtub/shower combo, toilet, desk and chair, Complementary water bottles every day. Nice gym, rooftop pool and bar. Lobby bar and restaurant that offers a nice (paid) breakfast. Hotel is right across the street from the Copacabana beach. Accessible by foot. Plenty of food within walking distance. Hotel offers black car transport to any part of town for a fee which is about twice the fee of a taxi. About 40-60 minutes from GIG airport by taxi (80-140 R$) and about 20 minutes from downtown Rio by taxi (30-40 R$). Hotel staff does not recommend walking around with valuables in sight, though I have not seen violence, and there are a lot of "Policia Militar" all around. Note that some of the rooms have a window that opens to an internal yard, not to the beach. Rooms facing the beach cost extra.

Poor 2,0
Total disappointment
Stayed at jw Marriott Rio for 4 nights. Had booked room with a view....didn’t know what view for them means. If there is a window in the room, obviously it will overlook something but we cant call it “room with a view”. We stayed there for New years and paid almost double the rack rate for a room that’s was really really small and dingy and overlooked hotel atrium which they called “view”!! The lobby looked like that of a 3 star property. It was Probably the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in. The amenities were very cheaply packed and towels badly stinking. No brand mentioned on the products provided in the bathroom. Had mailed the hotel 10 days prior for meal preferences as we’re vegetarians. But the breakfast had no options at all except for fruit selection. When asked the waiter for tea he got Luke warm water (how do you make tea with that??). It was the most disappointing stay ever at any hotel. We are Gold star preferred guests and If a hotel chain like Marriott has a property like this.....don’t know whom to trust!
