Fabulous stay at The Spencer
Fabulous room with a view of the Liffy. Bed was totally comfortable, loads of tea and ciffee in the room too! Breafast was delicious, help yourself to as much as you want. Also they have an amazing pool & gym. Tiny bit of a walk from being in the thick of things, honestly though, we didn't mind one bit. Our only regret, wish we had stayed longer. Staff extremely friendly. P.S. if you got the 747 bus from the airport, it dies stop right outside the hotel, however don't expect to get the bus back though! By the tine the bus reaches the hotel going to the airport IT'S ALWAYS FULL!!. 3 buses passed us without stoppoing. 20 minutes wait each time. Had to get a taxi in the end, costing us more money. Better getting the aircoach from the aiport. Hope this info helps.

Under construction, at risk of becoming average
I have stayed in The Spencer over 10 times but now I am not sure I will come back. As I said to the reception staff when there I stayed on floor 7, which is under construction and very noisy. I was not informed any construction was taking place when booking. If I had known I would not have come. The heating on floor 7 and certainly in my room 709 is not great. The room was either ice cold or after 1.5hrs of having the heating on very hot and (loud from the AC unit). The construction works kicked off every morning. Only one lift was working most days. Which meant it took a long time to get up or down to the floor. I met two US visitors who were also staying on floor 7 and complained about the same things to me. We also agreed that who ever is responsible for the new interior design, is letting the hotel down and it is moving away from being a boutique hotel to a mainstream hotel. There are now faux fur blankets on the beds, the colour scheme on the 7th floor is now a cheap purple in the rooms, the shower area is dark, the side furniture is not great , cheap looking chair and the bed side lockers have been removed. What was once a stylish boutique hotel is at risk of becoming more a average hotel.

Avoid this dump!
Maybe a 3 star hotel. Dreadful room. Dirty. Various broken bits and pieces in it. Not even a wardrobe to hang anything in. Appalling fitness centre. Verging on a health hazard, it’s so caked in dirt.
