It was ok, but would not recommend
The photos are deceiving. The deluxe king photo showed a larger room with more light. We had a window, but it didn't let much light in, and our room didn't have enough space for the two chairs shown in the photo on the website. The hotel itself has some updates done, but the HVAC is loud and outdated, the doors and locks are old, and the craftsmanship of the updates is not of a good quality. Also, you could hear everything from the hall, as well as the random guest down the ha who would randomly decide to play his trumpet at 4 AM. The coffee wasn't good either, and I need good coffee. What you got for the $20 resort fee just wasn't worth. We left the do not disturb tag on our door, but the room still was serviced, and the sign was removed. Overall, the staff was nice, and seemed helpful. Location was convenient for all the midtown / Times Square / Central Park / Rockefeller plaza stuff. Next time we'll find a better option, even if we have to spend a bit more.

Terrible Customer Service at Company Level
The hotel itself is very nice. Great bar, service, and location. However, the company's customer service is TERRIBLE! When I called the number on the website, I never was able to reach an actual person at the front desk. There was a major storm in NY that caused me to have to change flights, but because I couldn't reach anyone at the hotel, I couldn't change my hotel reservation and so I ended being charged for two nights instead of one. To get my receipt I had to call several times because the rude customer service staff kept transferring my call to a number where no one answered. Then they said that it may take 24 hours to email it to me. Makes no sense. It's a nice hotel, but not worth the trouble.

Need to soundproof windows
My family was up all night - the windows did not block the noise outside - everything from car horns to people screaming in the middle of the night. I have never had an experience like this before in all the years staying in hotels in NYC. The whole family was cranky the next day because of lack of sleep. Very disappointing.

Modern Decor, small rooms, near Central Park
Ameritania is an old property that has been refurbished to be quite modern in look and feel. The room was well decorated, however it was the smallest room I have ever stayed in (and I've stayed in many all over the world). There was not enough room to open a suitcase on the floor and be able to walk around it. Pedestal sink had no room for personal 'stuff'. There were some amenities (umbrella, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, etc) but no coffee service, fridge or microwave [there wouldn't be room for them anyway...). Great Italian restaurant a block away [Serafina]. And, like most NYC hotels, they charge a daily "resort fee" which is a bit of a scam to obfuscate what it will cost for you to stay there if you reserve through
