The elevator weren’t not running properly during our stay due to renovations. There were times where we would have to wait over 10 minutes for an elevator.

When we checked in the woman ran my VISA and CAPITAL ONE card for $50 each. I said why wasn’t I informed about the security deposit... she said we don’t tell anyone. WHAT????? Then when she ran my transactions I received the text to my phone and she argued she ran ONE card. Each bank verified the transaction. I was told I can check in at 9AM. I live in Detroit 5 hours away... drive here early to just get a run around. The beds are NOT comfortable. We have missed our UBER and LYFT 3 times today because of the elevators. They take About 10 min each time. Just HORRIBLE! We are not even sleeping here and decided to go home .

The roomscwere good. Unfortunately, they are renovating the elevators and only had 1 running for our stay. It made it very difficult to coordinate the 4 other rooms of guests staying with us as they put us all on different floors. It also restricted our planned activities.

This hotel is located very close to the mag mile and the L has a stop just steps away from the front doors, which is wonderful when it’s cold! The hotel staff were very courteous and helpful when we needed something. The pool was supposed to be heated but it wasn’t super warm and the beds are a little hard. Otherwise the hotel was great!

Great Weekend!
We spent the weekend at the Hilton Garden Inn in Chicago to celebrate my daughter's 10th birthday. We had a great time. The check in process was painless (our train brought is to Chicago before the check in time and we were able to get into our room a little earlier which was great). The lobby area is lovely and clean. Staff were very friendly. There is some maintenance work being done on one of the elevators but this only slowed us down once all weekend and it really wasn't a huge deal. Our room was very clean and spacious with amazing views of the city. Comfortable beds but the pillow situation wasn't my favourite. Nothing to get mad at but a non down option would have been nice. We used the pool and fitness center all weekend and found them in great repair. Pool was on the cold side but other than that it waa great. Unfortunately another guest group was completely unsupervised (8+ kids under the age of 10 with no parental supervision) and took over the pool area Saturday afternoon. They trashed the place. The hotel staff worked hard to keep the unruly group contained so I put the blame solely on the lack of adult supervision on a group of kids this size. I felt sorry for the hotel staff who really were walking a fine line between customer service and pulling their hair out!!! All in all our experience was amazing! You can't beat the location and price point for this very well appointed property. I will always look for this spot for future Chicago stays. Thanks!

Duct Tape to cover the winter cold.
Upon arrival the room was cold. I just thought housekeeping had turned off the heat during cleaning. My friend went to the window to take a video of the view. He found that there was duct tape on the window. I went to see and there was unstuck duct tape and the cold air was coming through it ( mind you it was 15 degrees outside.). Loud noises would come through the window when the truck or with the wind gusts. I called guest services and they said an engineer would come and see. We waited for 20 mins. no one showed up. I called guest services again and they said they were trying to track the engineer and I asked to be placed in another room. They found another room for us and I had to go downstairs to get the new keys and I wasn't given a welcoming bag upon arrival or check out. The new room was the same we weren't upgraded which we weren't expecting but wouldve been nice given the nature of the initial room.

Clean room, average interior, less good breakfast.
Considering the favorable price ($80) for a night, you can't expect top of the line in Chicago... though it was a special offer. The room was totally clean. It's not a new hotel, but what you can expect from this level of hotels. Unfortunately the swimming pool was closed due to maintenance. Maintenance was also done with some elevators, but no bigger issue. Breakfast was included as a Hilton Gold member and was offered at the Weber Grill next door. That wasn't too exciting! Overall... considering the price, it was just fine.
