Poor Customer Service, Great Food
PROS: Overall most of the staff and people are nice. The rooms were clean. Food is delicious. Location is convenient for getting around. CONS: The hotel has a roach problem. The manager tried to appease me with a free ride to the airport (value of $15-30); however, issues like bed bugs and roaches are non-negotiable when paying money for a “5 star” hotel. The manager refused to refund any part of my reservation. If I were a celebrity or diplomat I‘m sure I would be compensated and made whole. The hotel seems to think that guests should be inconvenienced with pests that can grossly reproduce and infiltrate one’s belongings. The manager admittedly knows there’s a roach problem, yet this is NEVER mentioned on the hotel’s website or the travel agencies advertising the hotel. The rooms are very dimly lit. You can barely see things that matter. I am a woman of color, the night I arrived and was being checked in, a Caucasian man came and stood beside me rather than waiting in the queue like a normal person. The hotel rep stopped helping me to check out the man as if I didn’t matter. I abruptly walked away. When I returned to the desk the rep apologized profusely; why apologize if you did nothing wrong; but he knew he was wrong. I played it cool as I didn’t want to make a scene. I felt embarrassed, dehumanized and utterly disrespected by this treatment. Why should a person second in line be put before me when my $ is also green. I was truly disappointed.

Exceptional 10,0
Great Old School hotel Vibe
The Stanley is a wonderful historic hotel in Nairobi, the service was amazing and very welcoming. I was only there for business but will definitely be returning for holidays in the future. It’s an older hotel so come in expecting to take a step back in time and you’ll really enjoy it. Definitely take a Tusker in the Exchange Bar.

Felt safe the whole stay!!! Great Staff
My first impression on this hotel started at the airport. When the person who’s supposed to pick me up was waiting holding a sign with my name on it and a big smile on his face. I knew I’m going to have a great start. The receptionist at the check in counter are all smiles and very friendly. Though the hotel looks old inside, has old smell too, I knew that before I booked it since it was built in1902 I think. My main purpose why I booked it is because it is centrally locates. I can walk outside the hotel and several restaurants and stores are just within walking distance. It also has all the amenities I needed such as the gym ( big enough for all the stuff that I needed to work out),has sauna and steam room, a couple restaurants inside the hotel and the best part of this hotel are the people. They are all accommodating and very friendly. The security over there is impeccable. You get screened thoroughly before you get inside. You really feel safe and secure inside the hotel. Speaking of security . I would like to commend one of the many amazing security personnel at the hotel, Joseph. I had a very embarrassing experience with him. He was just doing his job to make sure everyone in the hotel is safe and I made a big deal out of what he did. He dealt with the situation professionally while I didn’t. He was just doing his job and I deeply regret what I did. I apologized after but still felt bad. Again, thanks Joseph for being an awesome employee. Really all amazing hotel staff
