A convenient place to stay while exploring Oxford. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Only issue was a fire alarm at 6:30 am and no staff was alerted to come to the annex to check the building out and let us back in our rooms until well after 7:00 am.

Rude staff and "spartan" room
The room was okay. There was no soap or shampoo, etc. for the shower (only a pump bottle of hand soap on the sink), and no rack near the sink to hang a hand towel. Also no phone in room to call the front desk (I was traveling from abroad and had no local cell service). My room was in their "annex", which is actually a rowhouse across the main road and up a street a block or so down. So not very close to the main building. The morning receptionist was extremely rude. I showed up at 9:15 for breakfast. Evidently breakfast ends at 9, although you are not told this at check in, and this information is not available on their website or anywhere in the room. I was essentially scolded for being late, and then told that I could have some of whatever cereal and pastries were left on the counter "if I really needed to". She clearly took my presence as a guest to be extremely irritating for her and treated me as though I was stupid for not knowing when breakfast ended. So I just checked out and had breakfast at a lovely cafe in town. Of course if breakfast is over then it's over. But there is no need to be rude and condescending. Guests should also be provided with precise information (especially since expecting breakfast to last until 10 isn't completely ridiculous). And at least put some shampoo in the shower.

Read the reviews don’t count them next time.
Cramped bedroom and bathroom. Clean sheets etc but requires major facelift. More of a hostel than hotel. Didn’t eat there so can’t comment on food.

Location is a bit farther out
I booked into this hotel not knowing that “annexe” meant an entirely different building two blocks away. It would be helpful if the room is advertised as further away from the city centre. As it is, this hotel is a good 30 minute walk to the main attractions like the Radcliffe Camera. However, it is close to the train station.

City break
Welcoming and helpful on arrival. Friendly service. Room and shower room clean with fresh white towels. New pillows and fresh white linen, bed comfortable. Quiet within hotel. Adequate facilities for a short stay. Only 15 minute walk to city centre. Would recommend to others and stay again.
