The Muscat Plaza Hotel

The property is in a convenient and easy to get to location halfway between the airport and main tourist attractions. It was easy and cheap to grab a taxi to get to the places in Muscat we wanted to visit. The room was spacious comfortable and clean. Staff at the hotel are excellent to deal with, polite and very helpful. I would have no problem with staying at this hotel again or recommending to others.

Good hotel close to all tourist activities

We actually booked one room with 3 beds but they apparently gave our room to someone else (Very strange) but were kind enough to give us two interconnected rooms. We later realized that they gave us these rooms on a smoking floor but as long as the smoke didn't come in the rooms we were fine. Overall this was a good budget hotel to stay in, it's quiet new and is a good location close to all the tourist activities. The management could be better since the towels were missing multiple times from our room and even after staying at the hotel for 3 nights and telling the reception to change our linens on the 3rd day, they weren't. Breakfast was very average!

Bed was sooooo cozy. pillows are just right.

Price point- it was worth it. I booked for a family room good for four. The space was very strategic and convenient. There were twin beds and king sized bed for my family. Check in and out was fast and easy. Breakfast was incredible, again considering the price i just paid. I have 1 additional kid with me and they did not bother to charge her for her breakfast unlike other hotels we stayed which charged her half most of the time. Just concerns on the AC and smell of the room. AC on the other room stops every now and then. we tried to check on the controls but to no avail. I have called the frontdesk and told me they'll be in the room within 5 minutes but no one came. We just shrugged it off as we were already checking out in few hrs. The carpet or whichever as well needs massive clean up. There is a significant smell (vinegar like) that greets you once you open your door; and it never went away during the stay. Tolerable but Im a bit sensitive in smell so this bothered me. but Overall, our stay was nice. Bed was sooooo cozy. pillows are just right. I will definitely book for another stay.

So many things went wrong

We set out for a 3 night stay with a lot of enthusiasm. Unfortunately we faced numerous issues an all fronts. We keys kept on being reset and had to be magnetized again 6 times. Our room was always done late and we never received the right amount of towels. In the middle of the night another guest came into our rooms as the front desk gave them our room by mistake. It was embarrassing for the other guest and for us. We were also shocked in the middle of the night as we were fast asleep and were woken up by intruders. We had continuous problems with our TV sets. In the bathroom we had a burnt out electrical socket with live contacts that were very dangerous. We were left without toilette paper and towels for one full day. The door bell was hanging on the wall and wasn't fixed underlining serious maintenance issues. The rooms had a very bad smell coming form the AC ducts. We tried to put forward our complaints to the front desk but nothing changed. In trying to reach management for escalating the problem, nobody was present in the hotel. We wrote to the management and to date have received no response.

Excellent service by the General Manager

It was indeed a very pleasant and informative experience during check-in. The General Manager, Mr Surya was there to help us by going out of the way to tell us the places we could visit while we were there. We were clueless what to do. He practically came out with a well-thought and smple itinerary. We followed and were pleased that we saw and did what we ought to do while in Oman. Each time, we met, he would check on our well-being and if we needed any further help. He is simply an asset to the hotel and is a gem of a person who made us feel very comfortable due to his kind hospitality.
