10/10 Exceptional

Comfortable, clean, friendly, will book again.
Comfortable hotel. Very clean and tidy. There was a wedding on when we arrived had no noise problems, all looked yery organised. Breakfast was delicious, staff friendly and very helpful. We were visiting relatives in the area and will definitely book again.

8/10 Very good

We were happy with our stay apart from the breakfast. For the amount charged per person: no muesli, porridge, yoghurts, , fresh fruits, jams, were offered. The hot menu was sparse and rationed. Only one choice of egg was offered, which was congealed. The tea and coffee were Luke warm. We did intend to have breakfast on the 2nd morning but we left without

Plummeted in value for money unfortunately
Down hill since previous visits. Bar lounge not comfortable for socializing any more. In room shampoo etc missing, room dared, breakfast menu has reduced by significant amount, breakfast items lesser quality than before, but price of stay and breakfast have increased. The stay was ok but there are much better options in the area for value, comfort and service.

Awful staff
Being a blue badge holder I asked for a room close to reception and if no lifts then ground floor. We were given the room the furthest away you could get and up 2 small flights of stairs. Checkin was not friendly and lengthy as the girl didn’t know what she was doing. The bar staff were impolite and too busy for the service to be good. Worse of all - there was a 40th private party on and they closed the public bar so as they could serve at the party. We asked if we could purchase a drink from their bar to take out (we had no desire to gate crash) but not only did the unpleasant, rude guy from the party get quite aggressive with us when we asked if it was ok - the actual staff from the hotel also refused to let us buy a drink. Disgraceful - what harm would have been caused? Due to party there were kids running round every where too, unsupervised and no consideration for other hotel guests. All in all, a poor experience due to the staff not being able to look after all guests equally favouring the party guests. We didn’t even attempt breakfast as we’d had enough of being made to feel unimportant by this time.

6/10 Good

On arrival the lady on the desk gave us no information, times for breakfast, check out. Despite being at the end of a corridor, it was very noisy. The room was freezing on arrival and did not get warm and the corridor lights were on all night creating a bright light under the door

10/10 Exceptional

Welcoming staff. Bar/restaurant is lovely. The rooms are a little dated, but the bed was nice and big. The downside is there is no lift/wheelchair access - to get to our room we had to go down a flight of stairs and then up another which was quite difficult with a baby in a pram along with carrying luggage.

Not currently functioning to website levels
Having viewed the website and stayed before, we were looking forward to hearty breakfasts and an evening meal in the Dining Room. However, there was a very limited choice of food options at our first breakfast and no "continental" choices. £10 for one piece of toast and a lukewarm cup of coffee was pushing it. I asked on arrival about the availability of evening meals and was led to believe that we'd be fine for the Dining Room. When I mentioned this at breakfast the next morning I was told that they were hosting a function and that nothing would be set up for residents. There was no evidence of an event having taken place when we returned from eating elsewhere. A 4am fire alarm on the morning of our departure did not help to quell these negative reactions!
