      Worst stay!

Most horrible stay ever! Upon check in, the gentleman seemed like he didn’t know how to check me in, I patiently waited. After several times he stated my card didn’t go through the girl came to help and said no it went through the 1st time. Then I got in the elevator not knowing I had to swipe my card, another guest hit my floor…now my room key doesn’t work. I have a leg brace due to an accident and a cane, now I have to go all the way down with my luggage to get my key activated. I had asked for a room further from the elevator- this was across. So I requested another room, the girl kindly helped me. Then I get to the room, there I find stains on one of my pillows and hair in the bathroom sink, and either red lipstick or something red smeared down the bathroom door? I brought Lysol with me and had to clean the bathroom and wipe everything down. The hotel was under construction which I didn’t know about until walking in, no one apologized but the noise was non-stop! Drilling early mornings all through the day and then I had two families beside me, slamming doors, kids running the hall, and a baby crying so loud that it woke me several times on Friday night. Not to mention a woman’s bathroom flooding and her screaming. I complained about the noise several times to the front staff, they never answered the phone, and on two occasions I actually had to go down to let them know about the noise. They don’t care, not even a “we are sorry” Worst customer service!

Pool and Gym out of service because of renovation, seems that this has been a forever situation according to reviews, but no compensation was offered. Gym was one of the reasons i booked here in the first place. My daughter was looking forward to the pool as well. Shower head was spraying all over the place (outside the tub) which made me had to dry all afterwards (the last thing you want to be doing in a vacation-but if you don't, then is your fault, right?).

It was ok considering they were renovating but the pillows were terrible and my neck became sore.

They stay was nice enough. But something got mixed up between hotels and the sandman. When I went to check in, they did not have my information or confirmation for my room. And it took a look of work for them to find me a room. Very thankful they did, and it was just what I needed. But just double check with rhe hotel prior to your trip that everything is good.

      make other plans

Hotel is being remodeled, there are no services available and they didn't make it known. No room service or ant facilities to get any food not even a cup of water. You have to wait for over 30 minutes on n elevator since crew, materials and trash is being taken up and down on the same elevator. pictures are very deceitful

      Dirty and disappointing.

Extremely dirty, first off. When the halls didn't reak of febreze, the halls smelled very wet. Obvious water issues happening, damage in the rooms is evident. The rooms themselves did not feel clean, hairs in the sheets, and spots all over the chairs and curtains. Super gross. We stayed at this hotel in particular for my daughters birthday, because there is a pool. We were informed as we were about to go use it that it's under renovations. VERY disappointing. Especially for a 6 year old. Don't advertise something you don't have. Waited 20 mintues with 5 kids when we arrived (after check in time) because the keys weren't ready, when asked how long (because we could just take the kids somehwere and then come back), we were told "You will get them when they are ready." I assure you, I wasn't being rude with my question. When we were ready to check out nobody was available at the desk. Had to knock on doors and wait with a line growing behind us. HUGE waste of money. Also, booking through hotels.com was extroadinarly more expensive than just using the sandman website.

Disappointed that the gym and pool were closed despite calling ahead (did not call Hotels.com, called the hotel phone number) and being told it was open. Disappointed that you now are required to pay for parking (was just here less than a year ago and it was free). Disappointed that the room did not come with a mini fridge. Great service though, they brought us a mini fridge and gave us free parking. The service was definitely top notch and made the stay better. It was also quite noisy being right next to the road (not the hotel’s fault) and could hear other guests both below and beside. I did end up having to purchase ear plugs because of the noisy guests.

      Sound proof not good

The place is good in terms of location and the room is clean. The only draw back are the poor sound proof and the ever grumbling ice maker in front of my door. Sometimes hard to sleep. But overall speaking good for the price.

      Never bother with this hotel

The hotel was outdated. The lobby was dark and smelled. While they advertised on hotels.com and on their on website that the gym was available, front desk said that the gym was closed throughout my stay because of renovations and they failed to offer any alternatives. Some front desk staff were friendly and some were snobbish. When I had a problem and needed to call the front desk after I left the hotel, it took me literally 2 hours to get to speak to a snobbish front desk staff that offered no solutions, promised me that a manager would call me and nobody cared to call me. I travel so often to Vancouver but I will never stay at this Sandman hotel again.. Never.
