Room not ready
Check in time was supposed to be 3pm. I arrived to hotel at 7pm and was informed my room wasn’t ready. Finally close to 9 pm they say my room is ready but when I got to room the maid was still in my room.

Rocky start
Traveling a great distance by car, I arrived at 3:30pm and was appreciative that a number of rooms had already been cleaned and were ready for occupancy. What I didn't appreciate was the attitude of the young man at the check-in counter. I handed him my printed copy of the reservation and he was unable to locate it in his computer. He became noticeably frustrated and barked at me that he needed my name and phone number. When I asked why, he said it was for covid contact tracing - so I revealed that I had survived the virus 6 months previous and had later been fully vaccinated. I also told him that since I had made the reservation, I had experienced a marked increase in spam emails which made me want to limit any extra contacts. He responded with, "Well, if you want to take the risk then that's up to you." It came across as authoritarian, kind of like a wanna be cop. Later, his negative demeanor lessened, and I realized it might be his first management position, so I decided not to contact his employment with a complaint. But, I felt that I had to say something about in the review.

The stay was very good and the price for the weekend was a little high, but considering that for spring break is a good idea. The staff were very friendly and helped in any way they could. Was a little disappointed that my fiance and I were told earlier in the week the pool would be opened but it was closed. Wpuld definitely recommended staying here if you're visiting the Fenton-Valley Park area.

Mold and mildew odor!
Upon entering the lobby to check-in, there was an overwhelming odor of chlorine (pool?). After we checked into our room, the odor of mold and mildew was noticeable, but after we turned on the heating unit, the odor was too much. We asked for another room, it was better, but mold and mildew was still prevalent. The front desk was friendly and tried to accommodate us, but we ended up leaving and finding another room at another location.

Check in and check out was very pleasant. The staff could use uniform polos or button-up shirts that are wrinkle-free. They make the first impression. The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable so we rested well.The chair in the room would be my only complaint. It was clean and great for sitting in, but it was not a sink into, curl up and snuggle in kind of chair. I am a book reader. I like to be comfy, especially when travelling. However, this is just a personal preference. Other guests would probably appreciate that the seat was firm and easy to get out of. It was perfect for a quick overnight stay. The covid-compliant breakfast worked.
