About Omni La Mansion del Rio

The Omni La Mansión del Rio is located in downtown San Antonio, Texas, overlooking the city's historic Riverwalk. This hacienda-style hotel is three blocks from the Alamo and seven blocks from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. El Mercado, the largest Mexican market place in the United States, is eight blocks from the hotel.

Hotel Features.
The hotel lobby features graceful archways and a wrought-iron staircase. Also embellishing the interior of the hotel are hand-carved concierge and reception desks, and hand-carved cabinets. Free WiFi is available in public areas. The Spanish Colonial architecture of the hotel is reflected in its Las Canarias restaurant, serving authentic Old World cuisine in an interior brick-paved courtyard and three verandas descending onto the Riverwalk. Signature entrees include Buffalo Carpaccio with Herbed Quinoa and Texas Blue Crab-Stuffed Swordfish Tempura. The restaurant also offers Sunday champagne brunches. The on-site El Colegio, once home to the St. Mary's College library, now houses a casual American bar that serves morning coffee and evening cocktails. Recreational amenities include a heated outdoor pool with poolside bar, where on Friday afternoon the Mariachi Quiroga group entertains guests with traditional Mexican music. The hotel's nearby partner property offers spa treatments, fitness facilities, a sauna, a pool, and salon appointments, and is located across the Riverwalk via a footbridge. Self parking is available for an extra surcharge.

Guestrooms at the Omni La Mansión del Rio feature beamed ceilings, exposed brick walls and double French doors opening to balconies overlooking the river, courtyard or city. Rooms are fully furnished with custom cotton bedding with triple sheeting, large reading chairs, and glass-topped desks. Flat-screen TVs provide entertainment. Marble bathing areas have gilded mirrors, gooseneck faucets and cotton bath linens.

Omni La Mansion del Rio
Very happy customer
Out of all the hotels we’ve stayed and we stay at a lot this is by far the most amazing one of all we have stayed here about 5 times so anytime we come to San Antonio no doubt this is where we are staying. It is the best customer service ever. Every single employee there treats you like if your royalty. Very friendly staff from front desk, bar, room service, bell boy etc is excellent! The room service food is delicious we had both breakfast and dinner and both were yummy awesome! Beds are so comfortable and I like that you ask for any extra towels or whatever they bring it to you and they don’t limit you on towels cuz I personally use 2 every time I shower. Lol I also love that the Riverwalk is right out the hotel no need to drive anywhere for everything is walking distance. Love the place period. Thank you Omni staff for all you do.

Fun Christmas Stay.
Second annual Christmas stay in San Antonio at this great hotel. It is located in a great area with festive decorations for season. We will be back.

Major Disappointment
My wife and I wanted this stay at the Riverwalk to be a little more upscale than we normally book. We decided on the Ambassador Room at the Omni due to the great reviews. At nearly $400 a night, we couldn’t have been more disappointed. The room was stagnant and very run down. The photo was definitely photo shopped and did not reflect the type of room we thought we were getting. Furniture was not proportional to the room and very dated. Bed set a foot of the floor with a very thin and uncomfortable mattress. I think the pillows were equivalent to prison issue. The bathroom was dated and everything broken in the shower. Housekeeping didn’t show up until well after 3 at our request. Reception was disrespectful and unprofessional when I made my request to have our room cleaned. Breakfast was absolutely unpleasant. We opted to have a made to order breakfast in order to avoid the stale buffet food and powder eggs. Unfortunately, our special order scrambled eggs were powder, not fresh and breakfast all in all was very bland and overpriced for the quality. The only positives from this stay was the level of service from the bell hop and valet and the location. I have stayed at much nicer hotels along the river at much lower price points. We will not stay at the Omni Riverwalk location again in the future and definitely do not recommend it.
