Lovely stay
Lovely stay. The building is a little dated in parts. The service was a little lacking at times, it felt like a lot of the staff members were new and inexperienced. We had breakfast and a bar snack and all the food was excellent.

3 star hotel in reality - very tired
Had 2 superior rooms both of which were very tired with marks etc and not 4* in standard, no a/c either. The corridors were also showing signs of being worn out. Spa area was the same and cushions all marked. Breakfast needs to be pre-booked for time slots and complimentary free hot options are limited. £5 supplement charge for a full English. Venue also hosts a lot of wedding so be prepared for that. Overall I’d say the hotel is 3 star in reality
Corridor to rooms with steep stairs and window ledge dirty with dead bugs
Marked carpets in room

Relaxing Stay
Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was tasty and well presented. Enough variety at breakfast to please all. The bedroom was well presented but had a couple of niggles like 1 bedside lamp didn't work....but it was replaced and a dressing gown was grubby looking so didnt wear it. When this was mentioned to reception they apologised and said they would have replaced it. So they cannot be fairer than that. A nice ambience surrounds the hotel. We will return.

Relaxing, near city, park and ride, and zoo
This was my second visit to this hotel, it is so relaxing and quiet being a short distance from the main road but in countryside. The staff are warm and friendly, the food I had in the bar area after a day at the zoo was delicious, as was the breakfast the following morning. I found the options that were included in the price ( a good continental selection and various choices such as bacon with preferred cooking of eggs) more than sufficient, there are further items eg full English for a supplement. The spa is nice with large swimming pool, sauna , steam room and surrounded by plenty of cushioned egg chairs and beds. I had a massage and hour or so after breakfast, it was divine. I finished my stay with a walk around the stunning gardens - the weather was sunny, the lawn and woodland areas would be a little boggy after more than the re entrance rain so take suitable footwear for this. Only a couple of minus points- although my room was gorgeous as was the garden view from it, it was ground floor and had patio doors opening out to a table and chairs outside- it isn't private, anyone outside could see straight into it, the path goes past it and a dog walker strolled by ( residents I should add, as dogs are allowed). So you need to keep the curtains closed for privacy. The other I mentioned after my first visit, namely that the whirlpool in the spa is an extension of the pool hence the water isn't warmer, not a major factor but one some might be disappointed with. Will return.

The hotel was neat and tidy, staff very friendly. Although the pool was well maintained and deigned very well, I was disappoint with the hot tub being a part of the pool and cold. The room was clean and beds were comfy. Although we didn't dine in the evening there, the full English breakfast was delicious.

Sold online as “luxury stay, superior room” . Room ok, nothing luxurious. Dated worn decor, dated bathroom with water damage, dirty shower. Bed very uncomfortable ( maybe personal choice but found it very hard) woken by staff recycling bottles around 11pm, woken again at 6am and 7am by delivery/bin people. Breakfast was good, evening meal average and expensive £5 for a small bowl of chips. Spa is ok but again tired, pool was freezing! Generally pool area ,sauna and steam room felt unloved and grubby. Beautiful grounds and gardens. Left early and cancelled our spa treatments as just felt we’d had enough and didn’t want a cold swim again! Overall not what we’d expected from the website details, very disappointing

Stayed for a works trip - the hotel was passable. I felt the room looked tired (paint peeling in bathroom, outdated wallpaper etc) and the shower floor was unclean, the room phone did not work. My bed consisted of two singles pushed together, but there was a gap and level difference in the middle. Inconvenient for women was that the mirror was not near any plugs for hair tools. However, the staff were polite & attentive, the spa was lovely as was the breakfast.

Good size carpark Warm friendly check in, all information given. Stairs to the room took a while to find because I didn't see the sign! Once in a little compact to move about in, shower room was ok. Bed was super comfortable WiFi ok The shower was good Breakfast is not included but can be added if wanted. Evening meal was good Reasonable price and good choices on the menu. Hotel has some lovely gardens set around it . The location is on the outskirts of the city but there are some lovely walks close by. Would stay again if in the area.

Good location for our visit
Evening was very noisy as a function was on. Unable to use bar because of this. Unable to use Balcony as overlooked by guests and voices carry so unable to open windows as needed fresh air as room got quite stuffy in warm weather.

The pool in the spa was freezing cold. It says a lot when there's more people out of the pool than in the pool. The staff on reception where extremely rude. She asked me to pay even though I had already paid, she booked 1 person in for breakfast when they where two of us staying in a doubke room. Not very approachable or friendly seen as though she is front of house. I waited 10 minutes at the bar to get a drink as there was no one serving so I had to go and find someone. Not very good if you ask me.
