Find a place to stay

Kuta is popular among lively 20-somethings, but it also offers opportunities for family-friendly fun. Mom, dad, and children can play together around the pool, or you can all stretch out on the sand, surf the waves, or cheer a baby sea turtle on its race to the ocean. Sunny, friendly Kuta a perfect place to make firm friends with other families who've come to relax in a tropical wonderland.

Kids clubs

The major hotels offer plenty of activities for youngsters, which helps keep them entertained when you want some down time. Central Hard Rock Hotel will appeal to teens, with its free iTunes downloads, and a rock climbing wall, or you can chill out in quieter Tuban, where a cluster of resorts line a lifeguard-protected beach.

Putting yourself in the picture

There are endless opportunities for family photos in Bali, whether you’re at the beach or exploring inland. You could also surf an overhead swell, while the children get to fly on angel wings, shake the hoof of a unicorn, or hold open the jaws of a shark, all at the Dream Museum Zone and Seminyak's Gallery Trick Art 3D.

The natural world

Balinese Hindus revere the natural world, and their lush green island contains several ecological and animal preserves. Most are an easy day-trip from Kuta by car or organised trip. You can visit sacred monkeys and protected elephants near Ubud, or get close to a Komodo dragon, at the Bali Bird and Reptile Park in Batubulan.

World-class water parks

Pretty much everyone visiting with their children will want to spend the day at one of Kuta's world-class water parks. Waterbom Bali features slides that range from mellow to extreme, while smaller Circus Waterpark offers a 1-foot deep kiddie pool, with a splash bucket and toddler-friendly slides.

You can get your thrills by hurtling down any of the 8 water slides at Waterbom Bali, or unwind as you tube-raft down the Lazy River.

Adrenaline-charged action

If the thought of relaxing by the pool makes you want to climb the nearest mountain, Kuta has plenty of options guaranteed to get your heart racing. You can try your hand at horse riding, get soaked on a whitewater kayaking trip, or take to the air in a paraglider. If none of that works for you, then bungee jumping is sure to keep your adrenaline pumping all week long.

Pro Surf School

If your kids want to learn to surf the waves in safety, Kuta's famous breakers are the perfect place to start. And even if you have no idea what "hanging ten" means, it's never too late to find out.
