Hotel is perfectly located in Victoria. Central to all attractions in the city and walking distance to most of them. Friendly efficient staff in all departments. Breakfast could do with an Overhaul, it is sufficient but a little Boring. The hotel Restaurant, Pubs, Club, Roof Deck Terrace Pub, and Wine Merchant on site are a great asset to the hotel and a great convenience to Guests. The rooms could do with Air-con Units as a fan is not sufficient with the heat we experienced. Otherwise a fantastic place in Victoria for a holiday stay, and reasonable pricing too.
Let's start with the positive: I cannot remember when I last slept in a more comfortable bed! Breakfast was unspectacular but perfectly adequate and plentiful. However, the environmentalist in me really has a problem with the 'throwaway' culture around breakfast catering here and in other hotels we stayed in during our time in Canada. Literally everything (plates, cutlery, cups) is thrown away at the end of the meal, rather than using crockery and cutlery that can be washed and reused, which I think is hugely wasteful. I am sure that it keeps labour costs down, but it makes a mockery of any other ecofriendly initiatives that the hotel or its parent group may claim to be undertaking. The decor of the hotel is dingy and it desperately needs a face lift, but otherwise it's a good option for people who want quality accommodation at a reasonable price, and aren't planning to do much more than sleep in the hotel.
